Babies are Beautiful just as they are

When I see a newborn I see a tiny person, perfect just the way they are. I don't want anything to distract my eye from their face. I like to use neutral colors and plain blankets and wraps so the newborn is the focus, not the decorations. I love closeups of the baby’s hands, feet, hair, and face.

Babies are most comfortable at home

Babies are most comfortable at your home rather than a new studio and it's easier for you to have your newborn's photos where you have plenty of diapers, milk, blankets, and a change of clothes. I take photos of newborns mostly in your arms where they feel the most safe. My favorite baby photos are those with the baby in a parent's arms. I love to include the whole family in the photos. If you have other kids you can really see how tiny they are side by side. It's special for the older sibling to have their photo with the baby and know they are the big sister or big brother. I want to show the love you have for each other, the connection and emotion.

Safety is my top priority for your newborn

I know some photographers dress up babies in baskets and shape them into tacos and frogs, but it can be unsafe for the baby to be in unnatural positions. The "froggy" pose is actually dangerous for a newborn that can't hold her head on her own and has her hands trying to support her head. Your baby’s safety is my first concern. I wear a mask in your home and keep all of my gear germ free. I have some white blankets and 3 wraps I can use and they are washed after each shoot.

The alternative to overly posed family newborn photos

NATURAL, TIMELESS, AND RELAXED : JUST AS YOUR BABY

I have a more minimalistic approach to newborn photography. It’s considered “lifestyle newborn photography” where I will give directions and some natural, timeless posing. You won’t have to wonder what to do. It’s easiest with the baby asleep, but I can take photos of you feeding the baby, and cuddling her too. I like to keep it simple. Your newborn baby is the star of the photo session just as she is.

Instead of unnatural newborn posing with all those unnecessary props, what I love is organic, natural family newborn photos that tell your family’s story of a new baby at your home. All you really need is your baby lying down on a bed (a white bedsheet preferred), a white onesie, just a diapers, or nothing on at all. You can include a favorite little hat or headband if you want. I’ll use natural window light and that’s it.

Simple. Honest. And truly beautiful.

Enjoy Images that will stand the test of time.
