Newborn Photography

How do you find a newborn photographer you're looking for? Finding a newborn photographer with the style of photos you like is the first step. Check photographer's websites to see if you you like the traditional or more lifestyle and candid shots of newborn family photography.

I take some traditional shots of the baby by herself and even have some plain wraps I use for my photography. I also like to take photos of the baby in the arms of her mom, dad, and siblings to show the love and connection in the whole family.

When to book a session

The best time to have newborn photos taken is between 1-2 weeks old. The baby sleeps more and it's easier to have sleepy photos. If you want the baby more awake that's ok and any age can work.

In-Home Newborn Photography

My favorite place to take photos is at your home where the baby and you feel the most comfortable. At your home you have everything you need for your baby and snacks for younger kids. It's nice not to have to go out for your newborn photos. Having a baby is a busy time and you never get enough rest.

Where to have photos in your home

I like to find places in your home with more natural light. I like to use the master bedroom, nursery, and areas with large windows. Don't worry about cleaning anything. I don't need much room. Of course we can have photos of the whole room and show whatever you would like.

What to Wear

You can coordinate your colors to go with your home, bedroom, or any color palette you really like. It's a good idea to have mom's outfit picked first then figure out what everyone else can wear.

Mom"s Outfit

Mom can wear a long, flowing dress or be casual in jeans. It's really up to you. Wear neutrals and clothes you love and feel comfortable in. Being relaxed is the most important thing. Don't worry about wearing shoes. Bare feet look great.

Dad's Outfit

Dad can wear a plain colored shirt or a shirt with a small pattern. Again, wear something you feel comfortable in and a color you like to wear. Button down shirts, plain t-shirts, or a polo shirt work great.

Baby's Outfit

Your baby can just wear a diaper or nothing at all really. We can take photos of her swaddled, in a onesie, and with anything you find meaningful (a hat, blanket, or other family item you want in the photo.).

Siblings Outfits

The siblings can wear plain colors that coordinate with the other clothes. No socks and shoes are really needed. I like to include the older brother or sister in helping me with the baby. I have a toy camera that toddlers like to use to help me take photos. I really love little kids and want them to feel special to be the big brother or sister.

Newborn Photography Packages

Digital Images

I have all inclusive packages. A normal session is 60-90 minutes at your home which is $350. If you want to combine it with a maternity session it is $495 for both. You will get all of the digital images in an online gallery to share and download images.

Prints

I offer professional prints starting at $8 for a 5X7 and $16 for a 8X10. The quality is amazing and lasts 100 years. You'll want to print your images for wall art and prints to give to family.
