West Yellowstone, Montana

I knew it was cold up here but we happened to be here on the coldest day, -34 below zero. Seriously cold! It really wasn't too bad since I dressed in layers and had my snow gear on. My camera worked fine and I rented a 200-600mm lens for wild life. Yellowstone never disappoints.

Brian and I drove up Sunday afternoon and 4 hours later and 40 degrees lower we made it to West Yellowstone. We had a pretty sunset as we drove into town. Dinner was food we brought up. We watched tv and chilled after that.

Monday we had breakfast at the hotel, packed a lunch and snacks, and took the Yellowstone Vacations snow coach for a day tour of the geyser basin. The morning started really cold and the windows of the bus were frosted. With a clear sky it was beautiful light in the morning and mist formed over the Madison River.

Yellowstone was stunning with the geysers and extra steam in the winter. We saw a bald eagle in a tree, coyote, bisons, swan, ducks, and lots of ravens. Tuesday morning we walked to the Grizzly discovery center. We saw 2 grizzly bears eating then they were anxiously waiting by the door to go back inside. They don't hibernate in the winter at the center and they don't love the cold. There were 4 wolves and they looked completely content there. They love the cold. We had to get back for work so we got back to Utah in the afternoon. It was a fun, quick trip!!

Here are a collection of my favorite photos from the few days we were there.
