Kay's Creek Parkway, Layton Utah

Fall is a wonderful time to have family portraits done. The photos can be used for Christmas cards, the weather in Utah is more mild in the fall, and your family will have a fun memory playing outside! Of course everyone else seems to agree with having fall photos and many locations are really busy. This park in Layton was really busy and the parking lot was overfilled with cars, but luckily there is enough room for lots of photographers and families, brides, and seniors getting photos taken.

Musical Family

One of my favorite things is meeting such a variety of families for a photo shoot. This family is a string ensemble with 2 violinists, a viola, cello and bass player. Pretty amazing, right? The mom teaches orchestra and I don't know how she managed to convince all 4 of her kids to keep playing a string instrument. I taught 4 of my kids the piano and 2 of them still play a bit. Music is a lifelong skill and so fun!

What to Wear

I love the rich autumn color palette. Dresses are fun even for a more relaxed outdoor shoot. Deep reds, oranges, greens, and warm colors blend well to the fall outdoors. Earth tones are amazing. I liked that the family had solid colors, no busy prints, and everyone blended and didn't match. Some patterns and stripes are Ok if everyone doesn't have them on their clothes. I was grateful there were some fall colors still around. Earlier we had hurricane winds that blew half of the leaves away, but I found some areas with color and not just dead leaves.

This family above had 4 kids from 2 to 10 years old and I loved seeing their playful side. My favorite photos are the more candid shots and emotional shots. Ready to book? Please let me know!
